71 people died of AIDS in Sylhet

Speakers at a workshop Monday revealed that 71 people died of AIDS here so far and two others affected by it are now undergoing treatment, reports agency.
Padakkhep Manobik Unnayan Kendra, an NGO, has organized the advocacy workshop on ‘AIDS and Youth’ at the district council auditorium.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam attended as chief guest in the workshop, which was chaired by Acting Civil Surgeon Dr Jalal Uddin Ahmed.
Speakers termed Sylhet as country’s “danger zone” saying that more people might be affected if necessary measures to check the disease are not taken immediately.
